The Body of the Poem

This workshop is absolutely open to beginners and unidentified poets as well as practicing poets and artists looking for form. It's not an editing workshop, but rather an experimenting, generative  one.

Do you find poetry difficult? Do you feel constricted or liberated by form? This intimate writing group is for writers who want to focus attention on what happens when we’re writing in lines as well as sentences and how to go with where the line takes us.

We will be reading and writing poems. We’ll be experimenting with different poetic structures and what they show us about the relationship between voice and body that language expresses. We’ll play with received forms and the possibilities of hybrid and open forms. We 21st century readers/writers have a lot to metabolize and cull from poetic practice as we write the poems and bodies of our times.

Limited to 8 participants.

You see, I am not a ‘poet’ - nor had I ever been introduced to poetry, formally or otherwise. I was just a girl standing in front of a narrative that was not working. These workshops have struck a proverbial match under me and rekindled a spark in that deeply satisfying, warm and intimate space between…breaths. Brigid is a patient, understanding & intuitive being.
