Bridge the gap between your storytelling and the big screen with screenwriter/director, Andy Mingo. In this weekend intensive workshop held at the Corporeal Writing Center in Portland OR, from August 3-5, you will be immersed in the tested tricks to turn your novel, memoir, or short story into a screenplay ready to film. We will view/read some examples of page to screen adaptations and make some useful comparisons, explore tools and techniques for transforming action, dialogue and exposition in prose into visual storytelling. We'll finish with an adaptation workshop where we will read and give feedback to one another's film adaptation projects.

No prior screenwriting experience is needed. If you are an adventurous writer interested in crossing mediums into the world of film, a hybrid artist, or are simply looking for ways to approach your creativity from another angle, this workshop is appropriate for you.

Andy Mingo is a Portland-based writer/director/producer whose work has screened around the world and has gained recognition at national and international film festivals and screenings. In 2012 Andy was invited to the Paris-Sorbonne University where he lectured on the process of adapting Chuck Palahniuk’s fiction to the screen. He is now in pre-production for the adaptation of Palahniuk's award-winning novel, LULLABY, and is slated to co-write the film adaptation of Lidia Yuknavitch's memoir, The Chronology of Water.
