Gone are the days of rising only to the limits placed on us by patriarchy and its many institutions and gatekeepers of privilege. It is time to ignite our own revolution. Of words. Of self. Of narrative. Of voice. In Democratizing Success, Reema will share the meticulous strategies she has developed to ignite creative and professional success in her own life, and now, for yours. A workshop that is intimate, spiritual, direct, and highly practical (in essence, like Reema herself), through generative writing exercises, we will begin by identifying the obstacles that previously halted your path. We will examine and clear those obstacles. We will then learn specific tools for turning personal essays into larger manuscripts, the key elements to writing successful pitches and agent query letters, and to creating an authentic social media presence and a values-driven portfolio of work that are in sincere alignment to one's truest self. This workshop is open to everyone, regardless of where you feel you are in your path as a writer and your larger goals.

Reema Zaman is an award-winning author, speaker, and actress, the Oregon Literary Arts' Writer of Color Fellow 2018, and the author of the memoir I Am Yours (Amberjack, February 5 2019, available for pre-order.) Her work has been featured in The New York Times, The Guardian, The Rumpus, Narratively, Bitch Media, VIDA Review, and elsewhere. Born in Bangladesh, raised in Thailand and Hawaii, she lives now in Oregon, United States.

The Corporeal Center houses all of Corporeal Writing's Face2Face workshops, readings, and open community hours Tues through Friday, 12 - 4. We are located in a beautiful historic building in downtown Portland. We are on bus lines, close to the Max line that goes to the airport as well as the Amtrak station. We are within walking distance to many hotels, some of our favorites being The Society Hotel ($), Embassy Suites ($$), Hotel Monaco ($$) and The Nines ($$$). With a bar, delicious burger joint, fresh salad bar in our building, a food truck lot out the front door, and Pine Street Market only a 3 block walk, food options abound.
